Randy Newman Postpones European Tour
It is with great regret that Grammy and Academy Award-winner Randy Newman has had to postpone his forthcoming European tour on doctor's orders because of physical limitations and severe pain caused by stenosis in the lower back and neck.
The 18-date tour had been due to start on Saturday November 1 in Berlin, and followed the recent release of Newman's latest album, the acclaimed bestseller Harps And Angels, which is his first collection of new material in almost a decade.
Randy Newman says: "I deeply regret not being able to come. I like it so much in Europe and I've always been treated so well. I'll get there as soon as I can."
Ticket holders should contact individual promoters and venues for refund information. Details of rescheduled dates will be announced shortly.
Randy Plays a BBC Four Session!
The great American master of irony, singer-songwriter Randy Newman graces the stage at LSO St Luke's in London for an intimate concert. Balancing songs of scathing wit with affecting romantic ballads, he is joined by the strings of the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Robert Ziegler.
There is a selection from his critically-acclaimed album Harps and Angels, including the critique of the Bush administration A Few Words in Defence of Our Country, and Newman also cherrypicks songs such as Short People, I Think It's Going to Rain Today, Political Science and Marie from his impressive back catalogue.
